Am I An Ideal Candidate For An Eyebrow Transplant?
If you struggle with diminished eyebrow hair caused by genetics, age, over-plucking, health-related issues, and more, or you simply want to achieve fuller, more shapely eyebrows, eyebrow transplant surgery may be right for you. Eyebrow restoration is also ideal for transgender patients who are looking to achieve more feminine or masculine shaped eyebrows. At Astra Plastic Surgery, we offer eyebrow transplants for both men and women.
During your consultation for an eyebrow transplant in Atlanta, Dr. Killingsworth and his team of talented hair restoration surgeons will evaluate the treatment area, your medical history, and your procedure goals to determine if you are a candidate. The ideal candidate is in good general health and a non-smoker. Additionally, it is important that candidates have realistic expectations surrounding the results of their eyebrow transplant procedure.
What Should I Expect During An Eyebrow Transplant?
During eyebrow transplant surgery, both the donor and treatment areas will be numbed with a local anesthetic. Once you are numbed, our surgeons will use the FUE technique to individually extract hair follicles from the previously agreed on donor area. The donor follicles are usually taken from the back of the head.
Once the follicles are extracted, they can be implanted. Using micro-incisions, small holes are created in which the donor follicles can be transplanted into. The follicles are carefully placed one-by-one to ensure they are following the natural pattern of hair growth. Patients report any pain or discomfort during the process to be minimal. Although procedure times will vary depending on the number of grafts needed to achieve the desired results, eyebrow transplant surgery usually takes about 3-5 hours to complete.
What Should I Expect After An Eyebrow Transplant?
Before sending you home after an eyebrow transplant, Dr. Killingsworth and his team will provide detailed aftercare instructions to aid in your recovery. It’s important that patients follow these instructions with care to help minimize the recovery period and maximize the results. Patients should avoid any vigorous activity and keep their head elevated to alleviate any swelling. Additionally, patients should ensure the area remains clean and dry to further promote healing.
Because of its minimally invasive nature, eyebrow transplant patients are free to return home right after surgery. In fact, patients are even allowed to drive themselves home. While patients can return to their daily activities immediately, it is recommended that they take time to relax and allow their eyebrows and donor area to recover. If you have any questions or concerns during your recovery, please give our office a call. Our staff is on hand to answer any questions you may have during this time.
