Am I An Ideal Candidate For Facial Liposuction?
If you struggle with the appearance of excess fat in the cheeks, jawline, chin, or jowls, facial liposuction surgery may be right or you. Facial liposuction surgery can help patients achieve a slimmer profile and more contoured facial appearance. The ideal candidate is in good general health, a non-smoker, and within a few pounds of their goal weight. It is important to remember that facial liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, and the fat cells will regenerate if patients do not maintain a healthy lifestyle following the procedure.
During your consultation for facial liposuction in Atlanta, Dr. Killingsworth and his team of plastic surgeons will review your health history, your aesthetic goals, and facial anatomy to help determine if you are an ideal candidate for facial lipo. In some cases, skin quality can deter patients from being candidates for facial liposuction. If a patient doesn’t have good skin quality, specifically skin elasticity, removing excess fat can lead to sagging skin. However, we offer many skin tightening treatments that can be paired with facial liposuction. The facial liposuction procedure is customized to fit the needs of each individual patient.
What Should I Expect During Facial Liposuction?
Before undergoing facial liposuction in Atlanta, patients will be administered either general or local anesthesia to numb the treatment areas. The type of anesthesia administered is dependent on a variety of factors, including how many areas are being treated, the patient’s aesthetic goals, and how much fat needs to be removed.
Once numbed, your facial plastic surgeon will make small incisions in which the fat will be removed from. Then, they will insert a small cannula beneath the surface of the skin. By moving the cannula gently back and forth, your surgeon will dislodge and suction out the fat cells. After all of the targeted fat has been removed, the incisions will be closed. Although procedure times differ for every patient, facial liposuction can take as little as 30 minutes to complete.
What Should I Expect After Facial Liposuction?
Following facial liposuction surgery, patients should take time to relax and allow their body to heal. Although recovery time varies per patient, it can take between 6 to 8 weeks to fully heal. Most patients will experience mild-to-moderate bruising and swelling; however, these symptoms are normal and will subside throughout the recovery period. It is recommended that patients refrain from vigorous physical activity after their procedure.
Before sending you home, Dr. Killingsworth and his staff of plastic surgery professionals will provide detailed aftercare instructions. In order to minimize the recovery period and maximize results, patients should be sure to follow these instructions with care. If you have any questions throughout your recovery, we encourage you to call the office. Our staff is on hand to answer any questions you may have during this time.
