Am I An Ideal Candidate For Lip Fillers?
As you age, your lips lose fullness. Astra Plastic Surgery offers lip enhancement solutions with a variety of treatments to volumize your lips. If you struggle with loss of lip volume, bleeding lipstick, lip asymmetries, or diminished confidence due to the size or shape of your lips, lip fillers in Atlanta may be right for you. The ideal candidate for lip fillers has a positive outlook and realistic expectations for their results. The lips are one of the focal points of the face, so it’s important that patients are open to options that will complement their facial symmetry.
During your consultation for lip fillers in Atlanta, Dr. Killingsworth and his plastic surgery team will assess the anatomy of your lips, as well as your current health status to determine if you are an ideal candidate for lip fillers.
What Can I Expect During Lip Fillers?
At Astra Plastic Surgery, we create a detailed treatment plan for each patient to determine what approach will work best to meet their individual aesthetic goals. Upon arrival for your appointment, our experienced injectors will assess your lips, taking careful note of their current tone and appearance, as well as take photos.
Your lips will be numbed with an anesthetic ointment or injected with local anesthesia. After the lips are completely numb, our certified Aesthetician will use a thin needle to inject the filler into the desired area of the lips. Although this procedure is relatively painless, some patients may feel a small pinching sensation or notice their eyes begin to water. Depending on the goals of the patient, this process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
What Can I Expect After Lip Fillers?
Following lip fillers, your injector may gently massage your lips to evenly distribute the product. Additionally, you may be provided with an ice pack to bring down any immediate swelling. After receiving lip fillers, some patients may also experience redness or bruising. However, these symptoms should subside in the days following the procedure. Patients can alleviate any discomfort with over-the-counter pain medication, as your lips may be tender for a couple of days.
After getting lip fillers, patients should refrain from applying any products to their lips for at least 24 hours. Kissing, puckering, sipping from a straw, or any other abnormal lip movements should be avoided to prevent any filler migration. Before sending you home, Dr. Killingsworth and his plastic surgery team will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions.
