Liposuction

Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction can target and remove areas of excess fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Some of the most common areas of the body treated with liposuction include the stomach, hips, arms, love handles, back, and thighs. Facial liposuction can target the chin and neck to promote a more sculpted appearance. Although liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, many patients seek liposuction surgery to achieve a more contoured body shape. By using the most advanced liposuction techniques available, Dr. Killingsworth and his plastic surgery team can help you eliminate stubborn fat to restore your figure and confidence.

Cost Of Liposuction & Financing

Liposuction is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not typically covered by health insurance. It’s always best to check with your insurance provider about your coverage options. Our Liposuction approach is customized to each patient’s needs. We provide a cost of treatment after your liposuction consultation. The price is based on the length of the procedure, the treatment area(s), and the amount of fat removal required. Payment should be made at the time of your liposuction procedure. Astra Plastic Surgery offers financing through CareCredit® and Alphaeon® Credit; we also accept personal checks, cash, and credit cards.

Ideal Candidates For Liposuction

The ideal candidate for liposuction is in good general health and a non-smoker. Additionally, patients should be within a few pounds of their goal weight before choosing to undergo liposuction surgery. Although lipo can remove stubborn fat, it is not a weight loss procedure. During your consultation, our liposuction surgeons will first discuss your diet and exercise routines. If you are a liposuction candidate, we will examine your fatty deposits to determine the best approach. Our plastic surgery team will also discuss what you can expect after liposuction. Liposuction may also be combined with other treatments such as skin tightening, tummy tuck, or mommy makeover to achieve optimal results.

Liposuction Options

What Are My Liposuction Options?

At Astra Plastic Surgery, we offer multiple liposuction options. These techniques use different amounts of wetting solution to remove excess fat. During your consultation, our liposuction surgeons will discuss which option is best to fit your aesthetic needs. Tumescent liposuction is distinguished from the super-wet approach by the amount of fluid injected. Additionally, Dr. Killingsworth offers lipo 360 for patients seeking a more comprehensive liposuction approach, as well as non-surgical liposuction using CoolSculpting®.

  • Super-Wet Liposuction:

The wetting solution is equal to the volume of fat removed. This technique requires intravenous (IV) sedation or general anesthesia.

  • Tumescent Liposuction:

This wetting solution is 2 to 3 times the volume of fat removed. This solution causes fat deposits to swell (tumescent). Tumescent liposuction is the most commonly used technique & requires either local anesthesia sedation or general anesthesia.

  • Lipo 360:

Lipo 360 targets the entire midsection, including the abdominals, obliques, waistline, bra rolls, love handles, and flanks. Although lipo 360 is performed with traditional liposuction surgery, it results in more comprehensive results and a slimmer figure, 360 degrees around.

  • CoolSculpting®:

CoolSculpting® uses innovative cooling technology to target stubborn fat cells without the need for incisions or downtime. During this procedure, fat cells are targeted using cryolipolysis and naturally removed by your body.

Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia to ensure the patient remains comfortable throughout the entire procedure. During the procedure, a wetting solution will be injected under the skin. This solution facilitates the removal of the fat and contains medication that reduces bleeding, bruising, and swelling following the procedure. After the wetting solution is injected, our surgeon will make a few small incisions in which the fat will be removed from the body. A narrow cannula will be placed in each of these incisions. Our liposuction surgeon will move this cannula back and forth to dislodge the fat cells and remove them from the targeted treatment area.
